连词

并列连词按其意义和用法，并列连词可分为接合连词、转折连词、选择连词和因果连词。

（1）接合连词and，not only...but also，both...and，neither...nor，as well as。

He is like his mother not only in appearance but also in character.

他不仅在外貌上而且在性格上像他妈妈。

（2）转折连词 but，and yet，but yet（可是，然而），while，however，nevertheless（然而），wheras（而）。

She has failed many times，nevertheless，she is confident she will suc⁃ceed in the end.

她已经失败了很多次，然而她相信她终将成功。

注意：

①although/though（虽然）和but（但是）不能连用。

②not...but...“不是……而是……”

This book isn´t mine but yours.

这本书不是我的而是你的。

（3）选择连词 or，either...or，or else，otherwise（要不然），rather than（而不，也不）。or，or else，otherwise 都作“否则”讲，or语气较弱，other⁃wise最强。

Nuclear science should be developed to benefit the people rather than harm them.

核科技应该用来惠及人民，而不是伤害他们。

（4）因果连词so，for，therefore，hence。

You're in the right，therefore we should support you.

你是对的，因此我们应该支持你。

注意：because和so不能连用
