Good morning, dear judges. I’m the first candidate. Shall I start? Thank you.
Step 1 Warming-up
Good morning, boys and girls. Nice to see you again. How are you doing today? Not bad? Hope you will have a nice day. Before the class, I want to sing a song with you. It’s called Bingo. After this song, please try to tell me what you can hear in this song. Are you ready? Please stand up and show me your hands! One, two, three, let’s go!
There was a farmer had a dog and Bingo was his name, oh!
B-I-N-G-O! B-I-N-G-O! B-I-N-G-O!
And Bingo was his name, oh!
There was a farmer had a dog and Bingo was his name, oh!
B-I-N-G-O! B-I-N-G-O! B-I-N-G-O!
And Bingo was his name, oh!
Did you enjoy the song? Yes, you did. Great! Can you tell me what you hear from the song? Lily has raised her hand so high, so please. She heard “a farmer had a dog” in the song. That’s correct. Take your seat, please. So, everyone, this dog has many friends and do you want to know who they are? OK. Today, we are going to learn more about animal friends.
Step 2 Presentation
Now, everyone, please look at the blackboard. I am going to introduce these animal friends one by one. First of all, there are many animals in a big “home” . What do you call this big “home”? Wher can you see many animals? Anna said the correct answer in Chinese. Well done. So, in English it’s called “zoo”. Everyone, please read after me. Zoo, zoo, zoo.
Next, boys and girls, I’ll draw some stick figures on the blackboard to present the new friends. Please look carefully and guess what it is, alright? Now, the first one. What is that? Yes, Lucy? Very good. It has wings and it can fly. It’s a bird. Excellent, sit down please. Read after me: bird↑, bird ↓ . We can see many birds in the sky.
How about the next one? Look, what can you see? Wonderful! I heard Jenny’s answer. It is white and black and it’s very cute. It’s a panda. Read after me: panda ↑, panda↓ . The panda is so lovely.
Then I will do some actions and you can guess what kind of animal I am. It is very smart and it likes to eat peaches and bananas. Yes, in English we call it monkey.
Here comes to the next one. I have a long long nose, two big big ears and four strong strong legs, who am I? You guys are so smart. It’s elephant. Read after me: elephant↑, elephant ↓ Elephant has a long nose.
Now, I am going to make a sound and do an action. Please try to guess the animal that can make this sound OK? Wow, Linda, you have sharp eyes and ears! We call it tiger. Read after me: tiger ↑ , tiger ↓ . Tiger runs very fast.
Boys and girls, let’s listen to the tape. While you are listening, you can review the sentence pattern we have learned before, and please pay more attention to the intonation and pronunciation, let’s start. OK, let’s stop here. Boys and girls, what’s the key sentence pattern in this lesson? Anybody can tell me the answer? Cindy, you please. Great! The sentence pattern is “—What’s that? —It’s a tiger.”. The sentence pattern can be used to ask someone some objects. Take a seat, please. Cindy. You did a brilliant job. Boys and girls, please pay attention to the tone of this sentence pattern. It’s falling tone at the end of the sentence.
Step 3 Practice
Everybody, let’s play a game to practice the words. The game is called bomb game. Here is the rule: I am going to draw a bomb under the word “zoo”, when I point at the other words, you should read the words loudly, but when I point at the word with the bomb under it, you should keep silent. If anybody reads the word out loud, then we will throw a bomb at him or her. Am I clear? Yes. Tiger, bird, elephant, zoo. Oh, Jame, you read the word “zoo” out loud, let’s throw a bomb at him. One, two, three, bomb! Please stand up and read all words loudly. OK, boys and girls, let’s play again. Bird, monkey, panda, zoo. Oh, Amy, you read the word “zoo” out loud, let’s throw a bomb at her. One, two, three, bomb! Please stand up and read all words loudly.
Step 4 Production
Now, everyone, let’s go to the zoo. And you need to work in groups of 3 to make a role-play One acts as different animals, while the other two make dialogues according to “the animal” .
Remember to use the words and sentence pattern we learned today. 3 minutes for you. Clear? Let’s go! OK, time’s up. Which group wants to share your dialogue? OK, Lily, your group, please. Excellent, you all performed well. Have your seats, please. Pay attention to that “it’s an elephant not a elephant” . All of you did a good job.
Step 5 Summary & Homework
How time flies. Now, who’d like to make a summary of what we have learned today? Tina, please. Great. Today, we have learned some new words about animals and the sentence structure —What’s that? —It’s a... I think you have mastered today’s new knowledge. Sit down, please. Animals are our good friends, we should protect them.
For the homework, I would like you to draw a picture of your favourite animal and you can share it in the next class.
